Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead, implement, and administer all HR-related functions within our organization. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and implementing HR strategies, overseeing payroll and benefits (using industry-standard HR platforms), ensuring legal compliance, managing off-boarding processes, and facilitating conflict resolution. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable developing HR processes from the ground up while partnering with senior leadership and external counsel as needed. This position requires a strong understanding of best practices in HR and a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Policy & Process Development
• Create, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and documentation suited to a smaller organization.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
2. Payroll & Benefits Administration
• Oversee and process payroll using ADP Run, guaranteeing accuracy and timeliness.
• Administer employee benefits programs (healthcare, retirement, etc.) and handle related inquiries.
• Evaluate current benefit offerings and recommend improvements aligned with company goals and budget.
3. Recruitment & Onboarding
• Manage end-to-end recruitment, from job postings and candidate screening to interviews and offers.
• Develop a streamlined onboarding process to help new hires integrate quickly and effectively.
4. Conflict Resolution & Employee Relations
• Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns, complaints, and inquiries.
• Mediate conflicts and conduct investigations when necessary, maintaining confidentiality and consistency in outcomes.
• Foster a positive work environment by promoting open communication and mutual respect.
5. Off-Boarding & Transition Management
• Develop and execute standardized off-boarding procedures, including exit interviews and the collection of company property.
• Use insights from exit interviews to drive organizational and cultural improvements.
6. Performance Management & Development
• Create and oversee performance evaluation processes, including goal setting and periodic reviews.
• Identify training and development needs; facilitate or coordinate relevant programs to enhance employee skills.
7. Compliance & Legal Coordination
• Work closely with external legal counsel to ensure all HR policies and practices comply with applicable employment laws.
• Maintain organized HR records and documentation for audits, legal inquiries, and internal reviews.
8. HR Reporting & Analysis
• Track key HR metrics (e.g., turnover rates, retention, engagement) and present findings to leadership.
• Use data to recommend improvements in HR strategies, employee engagement, and overall organizational effectiveness.
9. Budget & Resource Management
• Manage the HR budget, balancing cost-effectiveness with high-quality HR services.
• Recommend tools or resources that can improve HR efficiency within a smaller environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (HR certification a plus).
• 5+ years of hands-on HR experience, preferably in a small to mid-sized organization.
• Solid experience with ADP Run or comparable payroll processing systems.
Technical & Professional Skills
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Proven track record in developing HR policies, procedures, and programs.
• Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office; ability to leverage data for decision-making.
• Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
